Most Romantic Lodging

Published: February 04, 2022

From the solitude of evergreen forests, to the charm of valley vineyards, to the beauty of pristine sandy beaches, discover some very special places to stay. The Eugene, Cascades & Coast region offers unique lodging that is just right for making romantic memories. Curl up in a rustic cabin, luxuriate in a posh hotel or gather at a friendly kitchen table in a darling bed and breakfast. Whatever style of lodging suits you, ignite —or rekindle— that passionate spark with a delightfully romantic getaway at one of these remarkable properties.

The Westfir Lodge

Oakridge / Westfir

Stay in a historic inn adjacent Oregon's longest covered bridge complete with a pedestrian walkway and views of the river. The Office Covered Bridge once connected the logging company with its administrative office—now the charming bed and breakfast known as The Westfir Lodge. Owned and operated by a young couple passionate about local food and hospitality, this is an enticing destination for adventurers. Right outside the front door are trailheads to world class riverfront hiking trails, mountain biking and cycling routes, and the scenic Aufderheide drive. The lodge offers a wholesome market with farm-to-table dining options, cozy communal spaces and guided adventure tours by the inn's proprietors. Add in seasonally available snowshoeing, river rafting or mountain biking excursions.

There are seven lodge rooms to choose from, several with attached private baths, and one has its own private entrance. There is a comfortable and cozy communal living room and dining room, and an outdoor patio with seating.

Loloma Lodge

McKenzie River

Constructed in the 30s, this historic log cabin lodge is beautifully built. Tucked into deep woods along the McKenzie River, staying at the Loloma Lodge is an exquisitely romantic experience. A popular destination for fly fishing, river rafting and nearby golfing; the Loloma Lodge is often host to small weddings and family reunions.

As a couple, rent out the rustic lodge with its massive stone fireplace and lofty main room; or one of the comfortable riverfront cabins, built later in the 60s, with full kitchens and fireplaces. This mountain retreat is the perfect place to enjoy the simple pleasures of being together. With contactless check-in, this is an independent vacation rental experience. Pack groceries, fishing gear, some great books and some warmer clothes for evenings on riverfront porch or cuddling up by the outdoor fire pit. Smores anyone?

Eagle Rock Lodge

McKenzie River

Immerse yourself in romance on the river's edge. Eagle Rock Lodge was built in the 40s on five wooded acres along the McKenzie River. In the spring, rhododendrons bloom and wildlife watching is bountiful. Manicured grassy lawns extend from the lodge's outdoor deck to the riverbank, perfect for quiet contemplation, fishing, and cozy fireside gathering. Launch a kayak from the pebbly beach or hire a guide and go on a rafting trip. Nearby hot springs, golf and skiing make seasonal adventures an enticing attraction. Each morning wake to a cooked-to-order breakfast in the dining room or in your room, and enjoy a glass of wine and appetizers in the afternoon. This gorgeous lodge offers comfortable communal spaces and guest rooms with private baths — some with jet tubs and/or fireplaces.

The Gordon Hotel

Eugene

This splashy, artsy hotel overlooks Market Alley in the heart of the Market District. The Gordon Hotel is the metro destination for couples who define high romance as dinner and a theater performance, a night on the town, or a wine tasting followed by a gallery show. Stepping into The Gordon Hotel, you enter an arts lover's world where innovative detail and creative pizzazz transform the mundane. Opened in 2021, this unique hotel features original artwork in every room and has an "art bar" for your own artistic dabbling. Soak up downtown Eugene's sophisticated urban scene with the nearby fine dining, high-end shopping and many wine bars.

Inn at the 5th

Eugene

It's like you've arrived in Europe! This boutique hotel is perched above the sprawling 5th Street Public Market with plentiful shops and dining. Expect beverage service upon arrival, private butler pantries, plush robes, fine linens, upgraded amenities and respectful privacy. (For the ultimate in romance request a room with a balcony, fireplace or spa tub.) Toast each other with bubbles or sip your morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the hum of urban activity. Provisions Market Hall below houses both a coffeeshop and a wine hub, along with grocery, deli and housewares. Seasonal live music on the market plazas add an air of festivity. The Inn at the 5th sums up all there is in contemporary glamour paired with attentive service!

The Campbell House

Eugene

One of Eugene's historic gems, The Campbell House is a luxurious bed and breakfast with all the romance of yesteryear but adjacent downtown Eugene's thriving Market District. Stay in the fully updated and renovated 1800s main house or carriage house. The tastefully appointed rooms have private baths, and the suites have spa tubs, gas fireplaces and private patios. A gourmet breakfast is served every morning and wine is poured in the afternoon. The historic home is nestled in the residential neighborhood between Skinner Butte riverfront park and the 5th Street Public Market. Enjoy cycling the bike paths along the Willamette River (bicycle built for two?) and shop and dine downtown. After the urban activity, slip back to the peaceful estate of the home's private garden and lovely drawing room with a good book.

Excelsior Inn

Eugene

Tucked on the edge of the University of Oregon campus, the Excelsior Inn is both a romantic retreat and a popular destination for visiting academics. Fourteen elegant rooms with a European vibe create an oasis of serenity at the heart of the busy campus district. Just a few blocks from the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, a stay here includes easy access to arts and culture.

Valley River Inn

Eugene

If you've come to shop, Valley River Inn is aptly situated adjacent Eugene's largest indoor mall. Valley River Center features a food court, movie theater and a variety of retail shops. But this popular Eugene hotel is also set apart, tucked in above the Willamette River, making it an ideal honeymooner's escape. Enjoy the grand lobby, the riverfront restaurant and the courtyard pool — but best yet, stay in a river view room with a private balcony. Down below cycling paths connect the area parks, so plan to stroll or ride the paved paths.

Best Western Plus Pier Point Inn

Florence

This sweet charmer is on Highway 101 on the south side of the Siuslaw River. Enter the grotto-like property to enjoy breathtaking views of historic Old Town Florence on the opposite bank. Stay in a room with a balcony and watch the river roll by with sailboats, kayakers, crabbers and seals. With complimentary breakfast, indoor pool, spa and sauna, the Best Western Plus Pier Point Inn is fully equipped for a romantic vacation. Nearby, explore trailheads for sandy hikes through the dunes to the beach, or kayak lush waterways to coastal lakes.

River House Inn

Florence

Located beside the Siuslaw River Bridge on the edge of Historic Old Town Florence, this river facing hotel is the perfect place for a magical coastal getaway. Ask for a river facing room with a spa tub to maximize the romance. From your balcony, watch the fog shroud the historic bridge, or roll out to reveal white sand dunes across the river with frolicking sand boarders and careening dune buggies making tracks across the massive embankments. From the River House Inn, walk into Old Town to browse the boutique storefronts and find a table for two in one of the many outstanding restaurants. Walk along the docks where the fishing boats tie up, sample a cup of clam or crab chowder and pick up a bag of salt water taffy.

Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast

Florence

Blustery or sunny, staying in the former assistant light keepers' house beneath the Heceta Head Lighthouse is enchanting. This historic home with its white picket fence and covered porch is a classic bucket list experience. Each room, some with private baths, has a unique charm. Below the Heceta Lighthouse B&B is a sandy beach, above on the cliffs is the 100-year-old lighthouse, and hiking trails criss cross the area. Comfortable shared living areas and friendly hosts make it a pleasant social experience. Enjoy a wine and cheese reception in the afternoon, and indulge in the multi-course gourmet breakfast. Take long walks on the beach by day, and watch the swoop of the lighthouse beam cross the sea at night.

Inn at Diamond Woods

Junction City

Imagine staying in a spacious home above a golf course and adjacent rolling vineyards. Floor to ceiling windows capture the dramatic views of the valley, out toward distant hazy mountains. A spacious kitchen makes it possible to whip up a masterful dinner to impress your partner while they relax by the fire. The Inn at Diamond Woods is a favorite for small weddings and retreats with its flexible spaces, but it is also an idyllic getaway for a golf and wine loving couple. Choose between two master suites, book a tee time and plan a wine tasting excursion through the Lower Long Tom AVA. Benton-Lane Winery is just next door.
